How much are you charged for using the phones on the carnival cruise ships?

I was told I could use the phones they had on the carnival cruise ships but I would be charged for it and I just wanted an idea of how much the charge would be

Cabin - to - cabin calls are free, but calling anyone else can be very expensive! Last year my sister called me from a ship near Hawaii and the cost was about $45, and when she called her daughter from a ship near London she got a "bargain" at close to $30. Both calls were short. Even if you have your own cell phone and a plan that will not charge you, the ship will charge you because of the satellite. It's best to reserve calling to true emergencies, and to use a phone on shore when you are in port
If you are calling cabin to cabin on the ship, there is no charge. If you are calling ship to shore. it will be very expensive. But in the case of an emergency, it is available to you. From the Carnival website: The ship's telecommunications network offers direct dialing via satellite from the staterooms telephone. This is available 24 hours a day regardless of the ship's location. This service is closed on the final day of the cruise at 4:00AM. The rate is $6. 99 per minute for calls to the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico and $9. 99 per minute for all International calls. All charges are billed to the guest's on board Sail and Sign Card. Since all communication is via satellite, guests cannot use calling cards, credit cards, dial 800 toll - free numbers nor make a collect calls. Instructions and rates can be found in the cabin's directory
Calls from the phone in your room can cost $7 - $10 a minute. If the ship has cell phone service available it is about $2. 50 a minute billed by your cell phone company. The ship charges nothing. ? ? l? q ?
If yuou call from your room to another it is free. but cell phones its Veryy expensive $30 - $50 It depends where youre going. When i went to puerto rico i could call with no cost and saint thomas i believe is free too, but on the ship when its moving most cell phones say ex: Cingular at Sea and it doesnt let you call
It is VERY expensive to use the phones on the ship to call to the states. When my parents went and I called them & left a message, it cost me like $40 and when they called me back it cost them that much! I would suggest using your cell phone! We just got back from a carnival cruise and I made the mistake of using a pay phone in port to call home - just to leave a message and it cost me $38! But I called home on my cell and it only cost me like $3 for roaming and that was it!
